TERMS OF REFERENCE

Communication and advocacy are central to UNICEF Indonesia’s efforts to promote child rights, strengthen public engagement, demonstrate thought leadership, and motivate action for children. To ensure that UNICEF communication and public advocacy products are compelling, accurate, audience-focused, and aligned with UNICEF writing standards and brand guidance, UNICEF Indonesia seeks to engage an individual consultant to deliver high-quality English writing, editing and quality assurance services over an 12-month period. The consultant will be responsible for producing agreed deliverables, including written, edited and quality-assured communication materials, based on specific requests as agreed with the communication team, timelines, and inputs provided by UNICEF.

The consultancy will be remote. UNICEF will provide relevant background materials, briefing, programme inputs, data, key messages, draft content, brand guidance and feedback as required. The consultant will work independently, as well as in close communication with UNICEF Indonesia’s communication section as well as programmes and fundraising teams as needed. As such, to ensure smooth coordination and communication, the consultant will be requested to be available during Jakarta working hours, to engage with the Jakarta-based staff to ensure constructive inputs and discussions of content.

• Minimum requirements:
• Education : Master`s university degree such as journalism, communications, international relations, human rights, political science, international development, or another related technical field.  
• Work Experience: At least 3 years of working experience in communications and public relations in the development sector or international relations field.  
• Skills (optional):
• Experience in producing excellent and compelling communication materials
• Flawless copy and outstanding writing skills, and proven experience.   
• Experience in strategic communication and advocacy function 
• Experience in developing various formats of contents, such as web article, press releases, human interest stories, and social media content.
• Experience in audience mapping/analysis and developing content strategy for various target audiences.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks without compromising quality. 
• Excellent people skills and ability to work flexibly with various stakeholders.
• Experience in conducting research and translating technical language into audience-focused language.
• Language Requirements : Fluency in English is required.
• Desirables :
• Experience in simple graphic design and video editing is an asset.
• Experience in similar content creation assignments with UNICEF, other UN agencies, is an asset.
