About the Role

We are seeking a forward-thinking and passionate Senior Industrial Designer to shape the next generation of innovative consumer products and elevate product design to new heights. In this role, you will drive meaningful design innovation by blending creativity, engineering, functionality, and sustainability to solve real-world challenges faced by modern parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Product Design & Innovation

• Lead end-to-end product design and development projects from research and ideation through prototyping, validation, and production.
• Create innovative, user-centred product solutions that align with business objectives, brand values, and consumer needs.
• Generate and develop concepts through sketches, renderings, CAD models, mock-ups, prototypes, and design specifications.
• Drive product innovation by identifying emerging trends, technologies, materials, and market opportunities.
• Balance aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, manufacturability, cost, and sustainability throughout the design process.
• Ensure design solutions maintain consistency with the company's design language and brand identity.

• Conduct user research, ethnographic studies, interviews, surveys, and observational studies to understand consumer behaviours, needs, and pain points.
• Engage directly with parents, caregivers, and end-users to uncover opportunities for product innovation and improvement.
• Analyse qualitative and quantitative research data to identify insights and translate them into actionable design strategies.
• Champion human-centred and data-informed design methodologies throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Develop user personas, customer journey maps, and design frameworks to guide product decisions.

Prototyping, Testing & Validation

• Create and oversee prototype development using various methods and materials.
• Conduct usability testing, product evaluations, and consumer validation studies to assess product performance and user experience.
• Gather feedback and iterate designs based on user insights, technical feasibility, and commercial requirements.
• Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

Materials, Manufacturing & Sustainability

• Research and evaluate materials, manufacturing processes, finishes, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing partners to ensure designs are feasible, scalable, and cost-effective.
• Review tooling considerations, production constraints, and assembly requirements during product development.
• Drive sustainable design practices through thoughtful material selection, product lifecycle considerations, and waste reduction initiatives.
• Support supplier engagement and manufacturing visits where required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Commercial, Marketing, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and external manufacturing partners.
• Facilitate cross-functional alignment throughout the product development process.
• Present design concepts, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Support go-to-market initiatives by providing design insights, product storytelling, and visual assets where required.

Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor and coach junior designers, providing guidance on design execution, creative thinking, and professional development.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages experimentation and continuous learning.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of design processes, tools, and best practices.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in industrial design and product development 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design and/or related discipline
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial or product design, preferably in consumer goods, FMCG, healthcare or lifestyle categories.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software and surface modelling tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Rhino.
• Skilled in generating rapid product design concepts with 2D and 3D design software.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mass production techniques, particularly for plastics and silicone.
• Hands-on and possess extensive hands-on experience in using prototyping equipment (3D printers & CNC laser machines) to fabricate and test ideas.
• Excellent visual communication, storytelling and presentation skills.
• Experience with rendering and animation tools such as KeyShot and After Effects will be advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Creative, curious, adaptable, and open-minded, with a passion for solving everyday challenges through design.
