Inspired by the successful phenomenon of WeChat, the co-founders started off the venture in late 2015 as a conversational commerce company providing digital concierge services via popular messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger and SMS. As they were seeking for ways to automate and scale the business, it led them into researching about AI and building a chatbot platform to manage the service better.

Due to many requests from the industry to use the platform, the founders decided to pivot the business and AiChat was officially founded in July 2016.
